Partnering with the EU: architecture, priorities and funding for NGOs and CSOs
eLearning course designed to equip staff at non-governmental and civil society organisations working outside Europe to navigate the evolving EU international cooperation architecture and familiarize themselves with the key priorities that the European Commission is committed to promoting through various financing instruments.
Course Description
Are you ready to navigate the evolving landscape of EU development cooperation and align your projects with the Union's strategic global priorities? This comprehensive course is designed specifically for staff at Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) operating outside Europe. You will explore the overarching financial architecture (including NDICI-Global Europe, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), and the flagship Global Gateway investment strategy) and gain a clear understanding of the Team Europe approach. The course provides in-depth guidance on how key European Commission bodies (DG INTPA, DG MENA, DG ENEST, and FPI) translate these priorities into action on the ground. Furthermore, you will learn what cross-cutting themes (e.g. gender equality, climate action, human rights, and disaster risk reduction) you should include into your proposals to maximise your organisation's competitiveness for EU grant funding.
Learning objectives
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Explain the overarching architecture of EU international cooperation, including NDICI-Global Europe, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), Global Gateway, and the Team Europe approach.
- Identify the distinct mandates, geographic remits, and programmatic priorities of DG INTPA, DG MENA, DG ENEST, and the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI).
- Pinpoint grant-accessible thematic windows and funding entry points for NGOs and CSOs across global, regional, and bilateral cooperation frameworks.
- Integrate mandatory cross-cutting themes and guiding principles (such as GAP III, the European Green Deal, human rights, and "Leaving No One Behind") into project designs and proposals.
