How to write a successful Single Form
3-day session training course designed to strengthen knowledge and skills in making best use of the 2021 Single Form format for the preparation of the proposal
Course Description
This virtual training course offers a practical overview to support you in designing an action using the Single Form format within the framework of the ECHO Humanitarian Certificate 2021-2027. Gain insights into the Financing Decision Process and Humanitarian Implementation Plans (HIP), and learn where to find additional useful references for effective proposal preparation (such as official documents, guidelines, and websites). Become familiar with the Single Form format and receive step-by-step guidance in compiling all its chapter.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course you will:
- Become familiar with the key elements and criteria that ECHO assesses/considers when evaluating proposals (including active engagement);
- Understand the logic of the Single Form and know what type of information has to be included in the different sections;
- Know the structure and logic of the financial annex;
- Be acquainted with with the quality elements to be integrated: Environmental requirement, KOI, Gender and Age, disability;
- Become familiar with and understand the fundamental requirements of the other pre-defined annexes (work plan, remote management, above standard visibility);
- Be able to find relevant guidance and policy documents from DG ECHO.

From here, you can join the live sessions, download the course materials and complete all the assignments. The curse is structured in 3 days of 4h of interactive online sessions combined with self-learning.
Total time commitment over the period of the course is approximately 14 hours:
- Preliminary tasks – 30 mins – you will be asked to introduce yourself, complete the survey on training expectations and go through some preliminary training materials.
- Live sessions – 12h – 3 sessions of 4 hours each - the session will be facilitated by PuntoSud experts and includes lectures, plenary and group discussions, group work, quizzes and online interactive exercises. The live sessions will be recorded and made available in the learning platform.
- Additional learning material – 1hours – for the duration of the course, you will have at your disposal additional readings and documents that you can follow at your own pace.
- Forum discussion – you can ask questions and share relevant information with the trainers and the other participants.
- Final tasks – 30 mins – complete the exit test and fill out the evaluation form.

Humanitarian aid workers from DG ECHO partners’ organisations, involved in the design of ECHO funded Actions, both at field and HQ level. It is appropriate also for UN agencies working under the Humanitarian Aid Contribution Agreement.
Basic knowledge of DG ECHO project cycle is suitable for this course.
You will need access to a computer, tablet or mobile phone with an Internet connection.
All the material will be available 7 calendar days before the starting date and until 15 calendar days after the end of the last training session.
Once you have completed all the training material and passed the exit test, your certificate of attendance for each specific course will be available to download from the learning platform. The certificates are always available in your profile page with historical data of all PuntoSud Academy courses you’ve attended.
