3-days field classroom course tailored for humanitarian professionals aiming to enhance their knowledge and skills in managing EU-funded humanitarian projects under the EU Humanitarian Partnership 2021-2027
Course Description
This course is tailored for humanitarian professionals aiming to enhance their knowledge and skills in managing EU-funded humanitarian projects under the EU Humanitarian Partnership 2021-2027.
The course begins with an introduction to the certification process and the Model Grant Agreement, providing participants with a foundational understanding of the administrative framework governing ECHO-funded actions. Subsequently, through interactive lectures, case studies, and real-world scenarios, participants will delve into specific situations commonly encountered during project implementation. Topics covered include handling amendment requests, dealing with eligibility of costs, management of the budget, navigating reporting requirements, visibility, field audit and dealing with remaining supplies.
Through interactive lectures, case studies, and real-world scenarios, participants will learn to navigate implementation challenges and ensure compliance with DG ECHO's rules and regulations.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Better apply the provisions established by the Model Grant Agreement (MGA) for the implementation of a DG ECHO-funded action.
- Have a deeper understanding of key procedural and financial aspects to ensure compliance and effective project implementation.
- Properly manage communication flows with DG ECHO.
- Locate relevant information and reference documents in the helpdesk website and on DG ECHO
NGOs’ staff involved in the implementation, supervision and reporting of ECHO funded Actions, both at field and HQ level. Restricted to DG ECHO implementing partners. Basic knowledge of DG ECHO is desirable but not essential.
Please be informed that ECHO courses are free of charge and reserved only for DG ECHO staff, DG ECHO Certified Partners and their Implementing Partners.
Field courses are not open to general applications; they are organized with the support of DG ECHO field offices, which independently invite the participating organizations.
Once you have completed all the training material and passed the exit test, your certificate of attendance will be available to download directly from the learning platform.

- Module 1: Overview of the EU Humanitarian Partnership 2021-2027 and the MGA
- Module 2: Eligibility of costs
- Module 3: Budget management (including operational budgets and Annex II
- of the MGA) – continuation on day 2
- Module 4: Dealing with changes (Managing changes through amendment requests and notifications)
- Module 5: Humanitarian Logistics
- Module 6: Handling remaining supplies
- Module 7: Visibility and Communication
- Module 8: Preparing the interim report
- Module 9: Preparing the final report
- Module 10: Field Audit
- Module 11: Closing Session
